timnaairportCost of building the airport in Timna estimated at 1.7 billion dollars, will last four years. The project will include, among others, the establishment of arrivals and departures tracks, a length of 3600 meters that will allow large jets taking off from any destination in Europe, and a control tower terminal space to meet about two million passengers per year, high level service. 

The project also includes aircraft parking positions for large turbo aircraft parking, the operation of, "Duty Free" stores ,  and a new road system and parking for the benefit of passengers.Airport planning is underway after years of stagnation. Evacuation of the existing airport in Eilat will allow the city to develop north, and significantly improve residents' quality of life, said Minister Katz.The Minister of Transport stated that the new airport in Timna, about 18 miles north of Eilat, will be another international airport of Israel, especially for flights to and from Europe,  as well as domestic flights.The program for the Arava road section between Timna to Eilat will be expanded to  four lanes, two in each direction. Upon completion, the road trip to Eilat will be about 10 minutes."We are interested in quick advancement of the project and the city of Eilat will be one of the main beneficiaries ," said Katz.
