The new studies will be done on the subjects of:

Family vacations as a lever to develop tourism in peripheral areas;

Construction of a statistical-economic model based on comparative analyses from surveys of incoming tourism;

Designing of policy for protection of the tourist consumer;

Examination of the tourism-economic potential of establishing a spiritual-religious supercentre in the Galilee;

A study in the subject of planning for tourists - between what is desired and what actually is.

The period of the studies was defined as one year.

The institutions carrying out the research are the University of Haifa, the Israel University Centre, the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, the Academic College of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, and the Technion - the Israeli Technological Institute.

The Minister of Tourism, Ms. Ruhama Avraham-Belila, says "The Ministry of Tourism is working toward putting together a strategy that combines between emphasis on Israel's natural treasures - historical, archaeological, and religious - and the socio-economic goals of the ministry, in accordance with the development of regional and international tourism.  The investment in research and development and the knowledge to be gained from these studies will help in putting together tools and activities that will contribute toward the efficiency and forward progress of the Israeli tourism industry."
