    Israeli tourism hit an all-time high, with about 300,000 tourists visiting Israel in May 2008.  This is a record high, and constitutes 5% more than in 2000, which had been the tourism record for Israel up until now.  It is a growth of 60% compared to May of 2007 and of 57% from May 2006.  From the start of the year through this May, 1.2 million tourists have visited in Israel - a growth of 47% compared to parallel periods the previous year.  The present rate of growth matches the Ministry of Tourism's goals, which are to bring in 2.8 million tourists this year
