Swordfish1 Who would have thought that swordfish could be caught here in Eilat? Well there are quite a few people out there keeping quiet about it and not all of them fishermen.


For quite a few years people have been complaining about not catching any fish. You would see people casting their lines from the bridges, the shores or even the piers. Ask them if they've had any luck, they would shake their heads and the answer was negative.

The lucky ones have a boat that can take them to deeper waters. With a boat you can easily move from one spot to another  in the sea if there are no fish biting. Cast a line into the sea, kick back and wait for a bite.

Well, for the past few weeks the people out there fishing on boats have gotten more than they ever expected to catch. Swordfish have somehow made their way to the Eilat waters and made a few locals very happy.

Are they coming here because of climate change? Are they searching for food?  We might never know the answers. Let's just hope they will continue to swim our sea, grow bigger in length, more plentiful  and provide good dinners for us with their meat.
