Eilat's children and youth did well in the Southern Championship tennis tournament held in Be'er Sheva during the Shavuot holiday.  15 Eilatis, accompanied by their coach, Bat El Laredo, participated in the tournament.  Transport was funded by the Eilat Tennis Society.  Third place for 10 year old girls was won by Michelle Friedman and fourth place by Esther Boaziz.

In 12 year old boys, Roie Bern took first place.  Roie goes to practice every day in Eilat and this was the first time in his life that he won in an official Tennis Association championship. 

In 12 year old girls, the identical twins Lee and May Bidosa from Eilat played in the final game round against each other, with Lee winning first place and her sister May having to make do with second place.  Fourth place was won by Tamara Susnitsky, another Eilati. 

In 14 year old boys, Yarden Marek took fourth place.
