A career Jordanian fisherman has caught a rare 125-KG fish, the largest ever found in the Gulf of Aqaba, breaking his previous record, a 106-KG fish hooked two years ago. Royal Jordanian Marine Sports Federation member and former Amateur Fishing Sports captain Marwan Shreim told Petra that the giant fish looked like a Sword Fish, which is rare to exist with such a weight in Aqaba waters. He said the fish was caught at a depth of 700 meters after a three-hour struggle.

$1.5 billion has been secured for Astrarium, a major tourism and theme park development in Aqaba, Jordan featuring a Star Trek-inspired attraction, Abu Dhabi-based The National reports. The Red Sea project will include four hotels and 17 entertainment developments and is expected to start early next year. It is funded by investors from the U.S. and the Gulf. The “Star Trek” attraction is being creatively developed by Paramount Recreation.

"Aqaba-Eilat: One More Step Towards Peace" was a project funded by the European Community (Project code: Ref. EUROPEAID/122385/C/ACT/MULTI) to encourage cooperation between countries in the Middle East. Recognising that the true way to implement peace is through the civil society, mingling and recognising each other's equality, similarities, and ‘being people just like us' in spite of cultural, political, or religious differences, this EU project brought together students of the Rosary College of Aqaba (Jordan) and the Rabin High School of Eilat (Israel) for a 3-year project.
