Last weekend, Environment Minister, Gilad Ardan arrived in Eilat, to learn a little more on how to brand the country's most Southern City.. A green city. After patrolling the city, and hearing about the work and visions of the Eilat Environmental Unit, the steady increase in the volume of the gathered recyclable waste, and the preparation of a master plan reducing landfill waste, The Minister was quite impressed, and praised them for their dedication.
The Minister also heard from Environmental Educational Coordinator, Rhona Shapira, how environmental educational activities took place, with the attendance of 3000 students from Kindergarden to Junior Schools. The Mayor also asked the Minister to recognise the youth group "Gaurdians of the Bay" as a national youth movement group, and added that "This is a qualitative motion model which should be in all the coastal towns of Israel."
