257666_10150220575476108_735206107_7042724_1640494_oThe Eilat Gulf Rangers decided to contribute their diving and underwater cleanup experience, by taking on one of the most difficult and challenging sites to clean - the spot where ships anchor.25 Gulf ranger divers and a dozen volunteer divers, among them City Manager Phillip Ezzard and Councilman Yossi Chen, all participated in pulling out heavy trash consisting of tires, metal,  engine parts and more.

"This was the Gulf Ranger's first  cleanup attempt at this site" said Mori Chen, and added that due to the extensive amount of debris and waste in this area, the divers will be returning again soon."Guardians of the Bay" [Gulf rangers] is a unique group of youth from Eilat and Eilot focused on maintaining the marine and coastal environment in Eilat. The group was founded 7 years ago by the  eIlat environmental organization  Association, in order to create a core of activists and environmental leaders. Group activities include: learning about marine and coastal environment, keeping active on the environment, raising public awareness of the importance of preserving the environment, and preparation for the IDF. This is a group of people and students that definitely deserve a medal.          see photos:
