During the time, residents will be asked to turn off the light in their homes and in commercial business throughout the city. This symbolic act is designed to raise public awareness of global warming, and demonstrate how the controlled consumption of energy can help reduce global warming. It is important to note that the street lighting and lighting in public places that can affect public safety, including emergency services - will not turn off!
Yael Edry - existing Regional Coordinator of the environmental unit, which accompanies the project for the second year, indicated that the Dan Eilat Hotel was one of the first in responding, and agreed to turn off the lights of the hotel perimeter, including the pool area and balconies of the rooms.
