| Eilat joins "tag" the environment |

About 50 cities including the city of Eilat, signed the Treaty of "tag" environment "that promotes environmental efficiency. "Tag" environment "is a more efficient consumption of resources in local authorities focused on three areas: energy, water and sewage and waste recycling. The program was developed by the Ministry of Environment Local Government Center, in order to improve the urban infrastructure system of electricity, water and waste, an effort to reduce costs both to the local authority and residents of the city, along with protecting the environment. In order to implement the program a steering committee has been established. Representatives of the corporation shall be members of Ein Netafim - Water and Sewage Corporation of Eilat, a representative of the joint energy manager, a representative of Department projects, the Regional Environment Unit,and a senior representative of the municipality treasury.Environmental unit will be responsible for management, operation and initiating the program in accordance with the decisions of the Committee through the relevant professional units for each area.
Expected efficiency potential estimated - 10% to be achieved through behavioral changes of employees, and about 10% through technological solutions. Time range to achieve the objectives mentioned above range from one and two years, meaning estimated financial savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Other products of the implementation plan are: positioning the city green leeks, reducing emissions and improving quality of life for city residents.
"Because of the importance of this issue to the municipality, the city of Eilat in particular in the Arava region in general, signed up for" environmental tag "organizational framework that will create an orderly and cooperative action among the three leading parties in the region, the three most significant areas of Conservation of the environment," said Asaf Edmond - Director of the Regional Environment Unit.
