Earth Hour: Tomorrow, Saturday 28 March 2009, 8:30 PM local time, wherever you live on planet earth, you can make your voice heard by turning your lights out for one hour. Yes, people throughout the world will be turning off their lights between 20:30 - 21:30 (8:30 - 9:30 PM) to show solidarity with environmental issues. As a fringe benefit, during that one hour of lights-out, you might enjoy a romantic candlelight setting, play board games with your family instead mindless television, take a walk under the stars, revel in undistracted conversations, meditate, play instruments or sing, or lots of other things that a one-hour ‘time-out' might permit or even enforce. It's not only the environment that stands to benefit!
To quote from a post from care2.com seen on numerous forums:
"This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world's first global election. For the first time in history, people of all nationalities, ages, races and financial status have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote and their voice. World Wildlife Fund is asking individuals, businesses, governments and organizations around the world to turn off their lights for one hour-Earth Hour-to make a global statement of concern about climate change and to demonstrate commitment to finding solutions.

The goal is to reach 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It a chance for all the people of the world to make their voice heard.
