The Red Sea Rangers youth, together with soldiers from the Navy and employees of Aroma Café in Eilat, decided to help the environment while keeping dry this time. They descended on Wadi Garouf and within a very short time had gathered tonnes of ‘Eilati ordinarius' rubbish.
The wadi, off the west side of the Shachamon quarter, is about 3 km long and is one of the nicest wadis for walking in near the city proper. Unfortunately, the wadi has always suffered an accumulation of local rubbish, most of which arrives by force of the wind or by contractors dumping construction waste.

This lovely wadi was chosen to receive the attentions of a multi-participant cleanup operation. Some 60 volunteers participated in the operation, held in close cooperation with the NRPA and the Dolphin Reef. The Navy soldiers have adopted the youth group over the long term, and the employees of Aroma Café chain in Eilat had made the decision to take part in community and environmental activities. The teenagers of the Red Sea Rangers are dedicated to preserving the Gulf of Eilat and nature in general and are known for their underwater cleanups as well as beach ones.
At the conclusion of Sunday's operation, the participants all gathered at the Dolphin Reef for a communal supper and social consolidation that should lead to continuity for the benefit of the future similar operations.
