| During an early morning patrol on 19.8.08, Nature Reserves and Parks Authority rangers from the Coral Reserve noticed four Eilatis who were fishing with spear guns in a nature reserve. The rangers approached them and wished to make a search. A spear gun and eight protected fish that had been freshly caught were found among their possessions.
The suspects resisted being detained for questioning, got into their car, and sped off at maniacal speed towards town. Because of their wild driving, the incident was reported to the Eilat police and a complaint lodged for resisting lawful detainment. After a concerted investigation, the suspects were found and a criminal procedure against them is underway.
