sudanimIt's official.Sudanese have hit Eilat strong and there is no one to move them, not for a while anyway. Yesterday 9.7.2011,a double celebration took place. While South Sudan celebrated the Independence Day, The Sudanese in Eilat, celebrated in Kibbutz Eilot, a special occasion,  after all, it is not every day that one of their own is elected to serve as honorary consul of South Sudan, Former Eilat refugee. Bit Tiang, who works at Kibbutz Eilot, was officially elected the

unofficial consul of South Sudan, Israel. So now he's dreaming in Hebrew, to occupy the offices in Jerusalem as ambassador, and represent  South Sudan officially. Actually it was bit Tiang office who initiated the office in Kibbutz Eilot and received it, with full backup from the government of South Sudan and  Israel. Beat Tiang has been staying in Israel for six years and will continue to work mornings at Kibbutz Eilot, and afternoons work as the unofficial consul of South Sudan in Israel. Tiang will weave relations between South Sudan and Israel, and  assist refugees residing in Israel who wish to return to their homeland as part of Operation 'voluntary return'.

Can we assume that he will spend as much of his time as possible arranging for the repatriation of all those South Sudanese citizens currently residing in Eilat?
Now that they have their own free country - what is the excuse for remaining here?
OK - so someone else will have to do the washing up and laundry in the hotels!
Of course - I'm not holding my breath waiting for some action to be taken...........
