Betty Bausch has been known in Eilat for many years due to her impressive activities, her wonderful spirit, and her never-ending energies. Since moving to a home for the "Golden Age" in Kfar Saba about a year ago (she is turning 90 this year), Betty increased her activities even more by travelling around Europe and the USA promoting her and her sister's book as well the documentary "Steal a Pencil for Me".
"Steal a Pencil for Me" is a film depicting the love story of Jack and Ina Polak which blossomed in the concentration camps and survived the war. It's a wonderful film of hope and love! Jack Polak is Betty's older (!) brother, married to his wife I na now more than 60 years. The documentary includes Betty's life as well, and the story of her entire family.
The documentary was presented at the film festivals of Jerusalem, Berlin and countless festivals in the USA. It won a goodly amount of prizes and gained lots of enthusiasm and great admiration. Until today, Jack and Ina Polak, as well as Betty and her sister Lies, appear after the screenings for Q+A, which makes the film even more unique.
The movie is in English with Hebrew subtitles and, of course, Betty will come to the screening in Eilat on 28th at the Ben Gurion University Eilat Campus! It will be screened on 27 January by YES. One day later, 28th January, the film will be shown at 19:00 in the evening at the Eilat Campus, where Betty will speak afterwards. Below is a letter from her brother Jack about the documentary and its publicity:

Dear Friends,
Last night we were interviewed for 21/2 hours by the New York correspondent of the newspaper Ma'ariv in Israel. An accompanying photographer took many a picture!
He is writing an article which will be published on Friday, Jan. 23 in the weekend section (or an equivalent thereof). On my question why the interview was so lengthy he answered, (very proudly!) that it is going to be 4 pages long and meant to alert the readers to the screening of "our" movie "Steal a Pencil for Me" on Tuesday, January 27 in connection with the official U.N-declared commemoration day of the Holocaust.
It will be on the YES cable station. They did not tell me the time but that should be easy to find in the program.
I am writing this to all of you just in case you or people you know in Israel (especially, of course Dutch people) might be interested to watch it that evening. Also, so that no one will later ask us why we didn't inform you before. I am practically sure that it has Hebrew subtitles.
This is all the info WE have received. Any mistakes? Complaints to Ma'ariv!
Warm regards from both of us
Jack and Ina
