| Festival Hashemesh - The Sun Festival - in Eilat: a celebration of dance and music for the whole family, with 1500 youth participating under the direction of Israel's foremost dancers and musicians, is happening in Eilat during Chanuka (23-30 December 2008).
Events will be held at the Eilat Theatre (cinema in Red Canyon centre) and in the marina area next to the Magic Palace hotel. Rami Be'er, members of the Kibbutz Dance Troupe, and Ohad Hitman are only a few of the leading artists who will be dancing, singing, and teaching along with youth groups from all over Israel at this unique festival for the performing arts. There will be classes, workshops, and performances open to the public in a variety of dance genres: hip hop, modern dance, ethnic dance, classical, classes in composition and choreography, rhythm lessons, music lessons, and song. The musical side of the workshops includes musical arrangement, how to adapt music to dance work, how to create music, rhythm, and song amongst many other things.
This is the fourth year running for this special festival, organised by ‘MeMI' - The Israeli Centre for Dance and Music. The festival gives the opportunity for amateurs to mingle with professionals, for even people who have never been on a stage to participate in the events, learn aspects of the performing arts, and enjoy the performances.
