At the end of May, an evening of recognition for the educators of Eilat was held at the Eilat Theatres. The festive event, attended by over 600 people working in formal and informal education, concluded a year of labour for the educators, who included teachers, assistants, heads, administration workers, community centre staff, and more. The crowning point of the evening, as every year, was the ceremony for bestowing the Dov Sofer education award to those who excelled in the educational system. The prize, of 5,000 NIS for each of the awardees, is a gift of the Dover Sofer memorial fund and the Eilat Foundation. 17 recommendations on educational programmes, personal excellence, and life work were submitted to the prize committee, of which 8 reached the final level. The five prize winners and the audience were both excited during the screening of the film clips showing their personal achievement and the great appreciation felt towards them. The event, held at the Eilat theatres, included a vocal performance by talented singers among the educators, congratulations from representatives of educational and teachers' organisations, and ended with an artistic performance by ‘The Greek Experience'.
