Health department and residents are allowing this to happen, instead of working together by providing them with clean food, water and spaying..Apart from the terrrible suffering of these poor cats, the danger of germs and diseases that they may be spreading, should be a major concern to all citizens. It is hard and disappointing to believe that no-one is doing anything about this situation! It is time for the people to get together and do something The following was Taken from website of Ministry of environmental protection: Stray cats are subject to hunger, suffering, disease and death. They are exposed to cruelty and their life span is significantly shorter than pet cats. A stray cat lives an average of 3 years in comparison to a pet cat which may live an average of 10 years.To deal with the problem, the Ministry of the Environment has drafted guidelines on feeding street cats and guidelines to residents of building on means of dealing with cat colonies in their area. These guidelines, which take account of both the obligations and rights of feeders, relate to spaying and neutering, checking for disease or injuries, feeding in public areas which do not disturb neighbors, providing dry and clean food, maintaining cleanliness, etc. The guidelines endeavor to find a working balance between all sides - cats, feeders, neighbors and the environment. http://www.sviva.gov.il/bin/en.jsp?enPage=e_BlankPage&enDisplay=view&enDispWhat=Zone&enDisp Who=lawsRegulations&enZone=lawsRegulations This is NOT happening in Eilat...WHY???..... from a concerned citizen |

- sometimes pick up all the stray cats from around the bins along the road. The cats get neutered and freed again in the Negev desert;
- vets can always send their bills for neutering cast to the city government which pays them.
- I have seen many cat lovers that feed the cats around their buildings.
Despite all this there is indeed a big problem as regards the number of stray cats. My friend Eric from Holland says we need to interest vets from Holland to come and help in Eilat as volunteers.....!! So...are you a vet? Let's talk!
