Older buildings encouraged to undergo structural reinforcement as per 2005 statute. |

The Municipality is promoting and encouraging the reinforcement of buildings throughout the city, particularly in the older neighbourhoods, as per the existing statutory mandate - national zoning plan number 38, that was drawn up in 2005. It sets planning guidelines to reinforce existing structures in order to improve their ability to withstand earthquakes, while at the same time defining economic incentives such as addition of residential units or expansion of existing ones, to encourage the residents to carry out the building reinforcements on their own. A work meeting was recently held in the mayor's office with a delegation from building 1143, which has 44 apartments, and the A.M. Blue Enterprise and Project Management Ltd. company. |
